Services for Business Owners
Your Business Guide
I always say there are three things you must do in business:
1. file stuff with the government to set up your business and follow the rules for your industry,
2. get insurance, and
3. file your taxes.
That’s IT.
Everything else you get to decide. The rest is 100% up to you and how you want to live and work. Seriously.
You will find ZERO Girl-bossing here. No hustle. No grit. That’s so 2015.

My Entrepreneurship Story
When I was a little girl, I loved to play business. I had restaurants where I placed a tiny table for my dolls on the stair landing. For my grocery store, I took all the food out of the cupboards and displayed it in the living room, convincing my Mom to buy the groceries from me with real money. I had the Woodley Street Kid’s Club, where kids paid me $1 to hang out. We did field trips and science experiments.
My first business with actual customers was Megan’s Pet & Plant Service. My mom kept the poster we made together all these years. My parents would have to drive me to my client’s houses and wait outside while I tended to the dogs, cats, cockatiels, and the houseplants. My Mom and Dad were my greatest champions. Looking back, I think it’s because they saw my neurodivergence and knew I’d never be employable in a traditional way!
When I was a junior in High School, I took my first Entrepreneurship class and was HOOKED. It was the most fun. I majored in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship in college. For my senior project, I started a seasonal Christmas store in an old, renovated dairy barn outside my hometown.
Fast forward to now, at age 52. I’ve started multiple businesses, including an administration services company and a marketing agency. Additionally, I’ve been the Executive Director for several non-profits that specialize in supporting business owners. I’ve lost money making decisions that ultimately led me to be a better consultant. I’ve made lots of money. I’ve closed up successful businesses because they no longer aligned with me. I’ve been through it, and each time, I've come out the other side more thoughtful, more compassionate about my business aspects, and ready to tackle the next one. And here we are!
For the past twenty-some years, I’ve been a business coach and consultant, working primarily with women who are starting or growing a business. I’ve found that women rarely separate their business from their life, so I’ve also become a certified Life Coach (although that term has been so overused and can represent Charlatans, it is the term most people use). The term coach also sends me right back to middle school when I went to state with my softball team, and my coaches made us do things like “run” and “throw,” and you know what, I didn’t think those things were fun! Ok, I digress.) I like to think of myself more as a GUIDE along your journey. I have tools, such as a map that outlines how businesses are typically started and run. Or how life is typically “run,” and then I think —all of this is made up! There are no real rules! Why are we doing things the way we are “supposed” to? GROSS! Let’s do it our way. Let’s do it YOUR way. The way that feels good to your system. The way your Self Energy leads.
I’m no longer a typical business and life guide. Sometimes, I use divination tools like Oracle Cards or a Pendulum to get clarity. Spreadsheets, flowcharts, and project management tools are essential, too. These are just not MORE important than our intuition.
I should mention that I have some additional credentials that you might care about… along with my BA in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, I also have a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. I’ve run a non-profit for the last eight years, focusing on our historic downtown businesses, and hosted large events. I have worked with everyone from grandma’s knitting booties in their basements to multi-million dollar companies.
I’m a firm believer that the universe rewards courage, not credentials.
